Welcome to the International Student Program at Reservoir High School.
As a founding school, Reservoir High has a well established International Student Program. In 2016 the program includes a select group of 23 students from a range of countries such as China, Vietnam, Nepal, India, Saudi Arabia and Mauritius.
The International Student Program reflects the diversity of the school population.
Reservoir High School is a co-educational, Year 7 – 12 school, with approximately 600 students. Students are attracted by the diverse and comprehensive range of academic subjects offered and the leadership opportunities available.
The school is conveniently located approximately 10km from Melbourne’s city centre. Tram and bus services are located directly outside of the school grounds. An extensive shopping complex where students can readily access major banks, supermarket facilities, travel agencies, restaurants, post office, etc. is a 10 minute walk. Universities such as the University of Melbourne and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology are a 40 minute tram ride away, while La Trobe University is within walking distance from the school. Access to a number of TAFE Colleges is also available by tram, train or bus. Please see the attached brochure for information about the local area.
International Students beginning their studies in Australia are required to complete 20 weeks of intensive English at an approved language centre. Throughout this time, students are supported by an International Student Co-ordinator, who has been appointed by the school to assist in providing transition for new students through an orientation program. On completion of their intensive English studies, students are integrated into all mainstream classes but attend English as an Additional Language classes at their appropriate year level.
The school’s International Student Co-ordinator is responsible for the general welfare and well-being of our overseas students. The school is responsible for the welfare arrangements of many of our students who are under 18 years and have no family members residing in Melbourne. A secure and comfortable Homestay can be organised through the school if required. Overseas students are also supported by staff fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and Vietnamese. Subject and career counselling is also available through the school’s experienced course counselling team.
