Student Leadership

RHS Leaders — 2026

Reservoir High School values student leadership and is committed to creating an environment in which the student voice is genuinely acknowledged, nurtured, celebrated and one that ultimately effects positive change within the school community. Students can hold formal leadership positions in Year 12 or be a Student Representative Council member, which is currently a voluntary position. The school offers a range of leadership experiences including the Year 9 School for Student Leadership program and the Advance program in Years 9 and 10. Our Student Leaders, including the School Captains, Sports Captains and Performing Arts Captains are responsible for identifying, implementing and evaluating whole school initiatives. This enables students to feel respected, empowered and highly involved in the decision making process. The SRC is dynamic, full of energy and has a key role in the school and the Year 12 School Captains meet regularly with the Principal and elected Student Leaders are voting members on the School Council.

Mackenzie Runciman

School Captain

Hi, I’m Mackenzie and I am so grateful to have the privilege of serving as one of your school captains for 2026.

As a leader and member of this school community, I value hard work and student voice. Throughout this year I will always be open to a conversation, feedback, and following through on what you, as dedicated members of the Reservoir High School community want, because that is what I believe our strength is, community.

Student leadership to me means cementing a school culture in which everyone does feel that comfort to work together on improving our space, through unique ideas, a driven mindset, and setting an example for those around you.

As a leader this year I hope to maintain and promote the positive culture which enables us all to succeed in our own ways. I hope to reflect a safe space for everyone to try new things and find new passions, because everyone deserves that opportunity.

Outside of school my passions and past times involve playing NPL soccer, working, and going out with friends. This has led me to consider pursuing a position in the allied health field, with a main focus on becoming a physiotherapist. Although, I am not set on that, acknowledging the room for a growth and change in terms of what I want to do after school.

I hope to be the best version of myself this year and strive to help you all achieve that as well.

I can not wait to see what we can do together this year.

Aiden Turker

School Captain

Hello, I’m Aiden Turker, and I am honoured to be one of the School Captains at Reservoir High School in 2026.

I am someone who values dedication, respect and continuous improvement. I have a strong passion for reading, as well as both playing and watching sport. Outside of school, I train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, where I have developed discipline, resilience and the ability to perform under pressure. I also enjoy AFL football and spending time in nature through activities such as surfing and fishing.

To me, student leadership is about giving students a genuine voice within the school and ensuring they feel heard, supported and valued. It means leading by example, demonstrating the school’s values through both actions and behaviour, and contributing to a positive and inclusive environment. I believe leadership is not just about representing students, but actively listening, building connections and helping others grow.

Having been a student at Reservoir High School since Year 7, I have been fortunate to experience many of the opportunities the school offers. As School Captain, I am committed to building on these opportunities and helping to create an environment where all students feel encouraged to get involved, challenge themselves and reach their potential.

Through my experiences in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I have strengthened my ability to communicate, guide others and contribute positively to a team environment. I aim to bring these qualities into my role as School Captain.

After graduating, I hope to pursue a career in the legal field by completing a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne, followed by a Juris Doctor, with the goal of becoming a lawyer.

I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to working alongside students and staff to make a meaningful and lasting contribution to the school community.

Jennifer Opara

SRC President

Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I am honoured  to be one of Reservoir High School SRC presidents for 2026.

I am someone who values kindness, respect, and hard work. I try to cooperate with these values in my everyday life. One of my strengths is that I am very determined and willing to keep trying even when something is challenging. In my free time I like to spend time with friends and family, relaxing, and doing things that help me unwind after school. I also enjoy doing activities such as dancing, watching shows or movies and reading.

Student leadership means taking the responsibility, setting a good example, and helping to create a positive environment at school. It also means listening to student’s ideas and being a voice for them. This year, my goal as a student leader is to build stronger connections between students through encouraging people to get involved in what the school has to offer and embed a whole school house culture. Overall, I hope to make a positive impact at school this year and represent my peers in the best possible way.

After I graduate from high school, I wish to complete a Bachelor of Nursing degree and then complete a post grad in midwifery and pursue a career in it.

Looking forward to working with being part of the student leadership team and working with my peers and I am excited to see what this year will bring in my final year of high school

Serenity Smith

SRC President

Hey, my name is Serenity Smith, and I am honored to serve as an SRC Captain this year.

I pride myself on being a hardworking and dedicated individual, but above all, I strive to be a good listener for everyone in our school community. When I’m not focused on my studies or leadership duties, you’ll likely find me outdoors, exploring new places with my friends, or hunting for the best “yummy foods” around. I’m a big fan of a movie binge and always have music playing, but my favorite weekend tradition is heading to the football with my Dad to cheer on the Richmond Tigers.

To me, student representation is the most important step in creating a school environment that genuinely shows it cares. As a leader, I aim to provide the biggest possible voice for my peers, ensuring your ideas and concerns are heard. My goal for this year is simple but significant: I want to direct our school in a positive way while making sure we all have as much fun as possible. I want to leave a lasting impact that makes the student experience better for those who follow.

Once I graduate from Reservoir High, I am setting my sights on the horizon—literally! I plan to join the Navy, with the goal of eventually serving as a Medic on board a ship. I’ve always wanted to travel the world and give back to others, and this pathway allows me to combine my passion for adventure with a meaningful career.

While I am naturally sad to see my time at Reservoir High come to a close, I am soaking up every moment of this year. I know I will always look back on 2026 as the perfect conclusion to the best possible era of my life.

Tristan Palaia

Sports Captain

Hey, I’m Tristan and I am honoured to be one of your 2026 Year 12 Sports Captains here at Reservoir High School.

I am a disciplined and team-oriented individual whose interests revolve around physical activity and cooking yummy food. I enjoy playing football and staying active, as well as spending time with my friends and teammates. I am a dedicated football player for Mill Park Soccer Club, sport has always been a big part of my life, helping me build strong connections and valuable skills.

I am very passionate when it comes to physical activity. I love getting involved in interschool sports and encouraging my peers to participate or spectate as well. I value creating a positive and empathetic environment at school, where everyone feels understood and included. I enjoy building strong relationships within our school community and supporting others. Through my commitment to sport, I have developed important skills such as communication, dedication, ambition and teamwork, which I continue to use in my leadership role today.

I have spent all six years of my high school journey at Reservoir High School, where I have learnt so much both inside and outside of the classroom. I’m passionate about sport and supporting those around me, always encouraging my peers to get involved and do their best. Becoming sports captain has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my time here, and it has taught me that leadership isn’t just about giving instructions or direction, it’s about listening, encouraging others and making sport enjoyable and inclusive for everyone.

As Sports Captain this year, my goal is to strengthen the sporting culture at our school, increase participation, and create an environment where all students feel confident to get involved. I want to help build a positive and supportive community through sport.

After finishing school, I am interested in pursuing a career in the Australian Defence Force, where I can challenge myself, develop new skills, and work as part of a team in a disciplined and rewarding environment.

I look forward to working everyone this year.

Yixi Wang

Sports Captain

My name is Yixi Wang, I am a proud member of the student leadership team at RHS and am one of the 2026 year 12 sport captains.

I am someone who has always been involved with multiple different sports, including basketball, taekwondo and table tennis. I have always loved trying out new sports and like to encourage others to do the same. I have always especially enjoyed the sense of community which comes with each sport, whether that be teammates, coaches or other players, I feel as if it is one of the most important parts of sport. Outside of school, I mainly focus on building connections in the communities which I am a part of, including volunteering my time as a table tennis coach and at local sports events, as well as participating in competitions and training sessions. I also enjoy spending time with friends, as well as working out in the gym.

This year, as one of the sports captains, I aim to improve sports in our school community. This includes aiming to increase our school’s sports ability by listening to feedback regarding training sessions, team trials and overall preparation, as well as through participation by listening to student feedback and organising more events in which they have shown interest in. I also aim to foster a supportive and open school environment, where anyone may raise their opinions and be heard.

After high school, I aim to complete a Bachelor of Commerce and pursue a career in logistics or management.

I look forward to being a leader in the school community this year and collaborating with fellow peers to change our school for the better.

Hayley Ha

Performing Arts Captain

My name is Haley Ha, and I am proud to be one of the 2026 Performing Arts Captains for Reservoir High School.

In my free time, I usually listen to music, write poems, and watch movies. Outside of school, I like to hang out with friends but also spend my time exploring different places and learning new things. I have been told i have an outgoing, understanding, and supportive personality, but most often, I would be referred to as a ‘perfectionist.’ Though this trait may sometimes come with slight negative impacts, such as being stressed for tests and wanting to perfect musical performances, I hope to use this trait to be able to express myself through leadership and being involved in the school’s performing arts department.

Despite having been at RHS for a short amount of time, I have been actively taking part in activities such as the school’s production for the past few years and being a vocalist for our school music band – Red Road Sign and The Essence. Through leadership, I hope to encourage students to communicate creatively, to voice their opinions, passions, and dreams via music, art, acting and dancing. I believe it is important that school is a place that does not restrict an individual’s sense of self but a place where students can be the best version of themselves.

After high school, I hope to go to university and pursue a career close to the arts, one where I can continue to express creativity and artistry.

I hope to do all that I can and contribute to Performing Arts at RHS.

Bixie Woolford

Performing Arts Captain

Hi I’m Bixie and I am one of the year 12 Performing Arts captains on the 2026 leadership team.

I am a creative and motivated person who is very enthusiastic about the arts and loves performing as well as drawing, painting and printmaking. In my free time I enjoy baking, listening to music and going for walks.

As a student leader, I take pride in representing the Reservoir High community and helping other students find their passion in any of the various arts programs offered at our school. In my time at Reservoir, I have been highly involved in the school production, as well as taking part in the music program playing various instruments and taking every art class that I could. The arts program at Reservoir has helped me find my own voice, confidence and grow so much as a person. Allowing the program to thrive and fostering a healthy and inclusive environment are my main goals as a student leader this year. I aspire to be an approachable leader that students feel that they can come to with their issues or even just to chat about things around the school.

After high school, I plan on starting university in a course that allows me to express myself whilst learning real skills that will aid me in my post graduate life. Although I am currently undecided on an exact career plan, I believe that something with creative freedom will allow me to feel fulfilled.

I am looking forward to the year that we all have ahead of us, and confident that we can all make the most of it together.
