The Lesson Model

The purpose of Reservoir High School's lesson model is to create a dynamic and student-centered learning environment that adapts to the needs of every learner.

Designed to be used in every lesson, the model consists of five key components:
  • Introduction to the Learning;
  • Explicit Instruction;
  • Application and Mastery,
  • Intervention;
  • Consolidation of Learning.

At its core, the model emphasizes student-focused work time, allowing for flexibility as sections can be revisited and integrated at various points throughout the lesson. Synthesised from the High Impact Teaching Strategies, the High Impact Wellbeing Strategies, and the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0, this lesson model not only aims to enhance academic achievement but also supports the overall wellbeing of our students. It’s important to have a structured lesson model because it provides a consistent and effective framework for teaching and learning, ensuring that each lesson is purposeful, engaging, and tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. We invite our dedicated Reservoir High School community to embrace this model as a tool for empowering students and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and high[1]achieving learning community. Together, let’s make every lesson a step towards excellence and a testament to our shared commitment to education.
